Chia
Chia is an ancient grain from South America which was once so highly valued by the Aztecs and the Mayans who believed It had religious significances. They used this super grain as an endurance food when covering long distances. Today it is grown in the Western Australian Ord River region and is now once again highly regarded for it's nutritional health benefits.
Rye
Bodhis rye breads follow the traditional northern European bread making processes, mostly created completely with rye flour. Our Rye bread is made from standard Rye Flour and Stone-ground Organic Wholegrain Rye Flour and our authentic Rye Sourdough rye breads have gone through a long, natural fermentation process developing a hearty, intriguing flavour. This creates a range of beautifully rich and earthy tasting breads that follow Bodhis’s Bakehouse principal of a 100% ALL natural bread making.
Protein
Proteins are the building blocks of any living organism. They are composed of chains of 20 different kinds of amino acids. Proteins constitute life in the form of enzymes, antibodies, hormones, hair, nail, bone, teeth, hemoglobin (blood protein), neurotransmitters, skin or as the basic components of any cell in our body.
Digestive Balance
The human digestive system is made up of the digestive tract, the salivary glands, liver, stomach, gall bladder and pancreas. The digestive tract is a long tube which breaks down food and enables nutrients to be absorbed into the body for energy, growth and repair.
Sprouted Grains
By sprouting the whole grains we don’t need to use flour and can retain and enhance all of the nutrients while still being able to make a delicious loaf of bread. When we tell people that we make bread without flour they can’t comprehend the idea. In recent years bread has been made as quickly and conveniently as possible with only secondary thoughts to nutritional value.
Low GI
For many years we have learned that carbohydrates fall into two major categories: simple (including sugar, honey and maple syrup) and complex (including whole grains, starchy vegetables and legumes). We have been encouraged to eat plenty of the complex and only moderate amounts of the simple carbohydrates. However, an increasing amount evidence indicates that distinguishing which carbohydrates are good for you is more complicated than this simple dichotomy suggests.
Spelt
Our range of spelt breads are all made with the finest spelt flour available. Our Spelt breads spend a large amount of time in the natural fermentation process to let the Natural Spelt Sourdough work through the ingredients. Being 100% free of additives and preservatives these loaves will leave you with a nutty taste sensation the whole family will love.
Rolled Oats
Oats, scientifically known as Avena Sativa, are among the healthiest grains. Oats are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals such as manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, thiamine and pantothenic acid, to name a few.
